![]() Connor is a 13 year old boy who is full of life and does not let his illness stop him. When our Founding Committee Member, Kim Dalen, met this wonderful boy and his family, she insisted on leading this project. Connor is recovering from a relapse of leukemia. He was first diagnosed at 4 years old and again at 12 years old. Connor was now facing a bone marrow transplant and Kim found that the perfect opportunity to sneak in and make a healing space for Connor to enjoy and recover. He is now relaxing in a contemporary teen bedroom that is a combination of his two favorite things, sports and music. This new space helps nurture Connor's hopes and plans for the future. He dreams of being a professional athlete or a professional musician. His bedroom has lots of awesome sports memorabilia such as a signed jersey from the Detroit Lions donated by Coach Rod Marinelli and his wife. He also has lots of new musical items and Kim made sure that she included in-home guitar lessons donated by Wayne State University. Kim enlisted the boundless energy of longtime volunteer Doug Cordeau to help uplift the spirits of Connor's parents and his three younger siblings. Doug spent hours each day doing repairs to the home and updating the kitchen and bathroom. Kim was busy sprucing up the parents' bedroom in addition to fresh decorating in all three siblings bedrooms. There were so many smiles and tears when this family arrived home with Connor after his long stay in the hospital! Team Leader: Kim Dalen |
